I have a WD45 and only one wheel drives on thhe rear end. Is there a common thing that fails in the differential? If the problem exists in the rear end, where can I find parts for this? Any help would be appreciated.

To test if both wheels are pulling, why not make a hard right turn and lock the right wheel with the right brake? If the tractor turns to the right in a tight circle, the left wheel is pulling. Check the other wheel by turning the opposite direction and locking the left wheel.

It seems to me that if you had a broken axle or gear in the differential you would not be going anywhere, and or you would hear bad sounds comming from the rear internals of the tractor. Is it possible you have a brake that is dragging? With the tractor in neutral jack up one side at a time and see if you can turn that wheel. Take the covers off the tip of the brake housings on each side of the differential and see if all is well and the brakes are releaseing. Good luck

I was thinking about that. If the differntial was out, it would either lock in both sides and steering would be impossible, or no movement would be possible. The free side of the diff. would just spin and you'd go nowhere. More like a brake dragging, as mentioned.

Just curious how you figured out that only one wheel was driving the thing. Guess I've never been aroundone that only had one wheel moving anything.

If I break on the right side I get no additional power from the left side. Usually if I break hard enough on one side, I can get the the opposite side to dig in and pull to that side. This is not happening. I can also feel it pull a little to the right side as I'm driving forward.

Steve, I guess I am also a little confussed just like Aaron. In your reply you said if you brake the right side you don't get any power from the left side. If this is the case then it would seem that the left side is not driving. You then state that you can feel it pull a little to the right when you drive it . In order for it to do this the left side would have to be driving and not the right to make it drift to the right. Guess I am still confussed. Perhaps you can clear this up for us.
