WD hand clutch

On my WD there is a brass bushing that moves the
hand clutch in and out. My question is how do I
replace it without splitting the tractor. I got
the old one off, but can't get the new one back
on. Can't get the ears to go in the forks.

I had to replace this brass collar on my 1949 WD last year. Rather than split the tractor , I removed the R/H side rail frame , then I removed the set screw that secures the fork to the shifter shaft.Then I pulled the shifter shaft out of the housing .This freed up the fork so that brass shifter collar and shifter could be lined up. Worked for me.

Do I have to block up the side or does the rail
just come off.

You need to support the front end of the tractor since the front steering housing support is only bolted to the two side rails.Gary
