My WD45 as it warms up begins to run increasingly rougher until it dies. I've solved other problems with your help, so I'm back.

I have removed and cleaned the fuel line and tank.
Tightened the manifold. Replaced the spark plugs.
Replaced the points, rotor, cap and timed it. The one thing I keep coming back to is the carburetor.
I have rebuilt, worked on it and cleaned it many times but am still having problems with the float working properly. After the tractor dies it becomes flooded and will not start until the next morning. Is the carburetor flooding engene to death as it warms up? I have checked the float and it does not have any leaks. I'm thinking about throwing in the towl and buying a "new" carburetor but would like some input and/or suggestions before I do so.

Mine did exactly the same thing. Condenser was bad in the mag.

if all that didn't work, make sure your intake air filter can is clear. this item is often ignored on old tractors. on my -45 it would run till hot then quit. finally got to intake. clogged. evidently there was air space till stuck material got warm and expanded closeing it off. it's worth checking. good luck.

Have you gotten it fixed? What carb do you have? Have you tried replacing the needle and the seat? If it has a steel needle and brass seat sometimes we had to seat the needle, this is done with a punch after seat is installed, tap needle lightly with hammer and punch to seat the needle. Let us know how things turn out.

Thomas is right on the money. Pick up a new coil and try it(they're a lot cheaper than a carb!!). If your problem goes away, the old coil had bad windings that opened up when the coil got hot - resulting in the engine missing if not dying outright. Condensers are cheap, too, so you may want to replace it as well. Make sure your points are clean and gapped to spec.

Even old spark plug wires can cause an engine to miss. They may look OK, but the inside of the wire is breaking down electrically due to the engine heat. You might consider replacing them, too. HTH

The packing on the main jet needle of my Zenith carb was shot, and it would vibrate open causing the exact same problem. I would definitely pay $25 for a complete rebuild kit for the carb before shelling out for a new one. (save your jets, though.) Also, any water in the fuel system will screw it up. Try draining the carb at the bottom before you start it each time to let condensation out before starting. Does it help to choke it as it starts to die? Anything coming from the exhaust? These are a good way to differentiate between fuel and ignition problems. I know how frustrating it can be, but keep knocking everything out in sequence and you'll fix it! chech coil, condenser,and points are set proper.its a lot cheaper than a carb.
as for the carb,. float needle to make sure it has good set and float is not touching body of carb,
and float high is correct.
