Hard to start D19D

This tractor will start right up when warmed up or hot, but below 60 degrees it will not go unless heated. I put on a engine coolant heater that helps but you still have to crank it over a long time before it takes off. Has fresh overhaul on it. Could pump timing be off? Or any ideas?

That is the nature of the beast. Some start better then others but when it cools off they need starting fluid or must be heated. Our D-17D and D-19D are the same way. Those old deisels don`t start to good
