Will CA pull plow?

I've got a CA, that I'm getting ready to finish repairing, and I'm wondering if anyone out there knows whether I could use it to pull my 2b Little Genius plow? I know that my great grandpa had a 2b pick-up plow that he used on it, but I don't know if it can handle a pull-type plow.

Like everyone else suggest use plenty of weight on the tractor, because that is what the little booger lacks. without weights or atleast a good combination of tires and weights the CA won't pull the hat off your head. Until we piled on the weight we couldn't get our 52 model to pull a 2-12 plow without excessive slippage. Now it does it just fine, but it took a good little bit of weight to get the power to the ground. Good Luck, Greg H.

Mike, plowed with my C and my WC today. My C was able to pull 2 14in bottoms the WC pulled 2 16in or 3 14in bottoms pretty well. The limitation on the C was that I have 10/24 tires, no fluid, and no additional weights so I did a lot of spinning. Your CA should have no problem with the plow as long as you can get some weight on it, Mike (WA).

I have a c/a 1952 that Phil is talking about. I pull 2-14" bedders 12 to 14' deep in BLACK heavy soil. Sometimes in 2nd. gear. No trouble with lack of power noww. Before new tires it would SHAKE and spin and jump all over the place. I love my c/a good tractor. GOOD LUCK..H.T.

Have a 2-10 IH trip plow for my Farmall A. Was tring to break about 3 acres of sod (fescue)ground for a wildlife conservation patch. The A plows a garden or other broken ground good in first and often second gear, but doesn't have fluid or wheel weights so the sod won the fight. Got mad, went to the barn and got grandad's 53 CA (no fluid but has weights)and thought I was going to pull the plow in two. Second gear, all the way, making the sod fly. Good luck and enjoy. By the way, the 53 CA was the first tractor ever used on our farm - has had one set of rod bearings replaced (from the bottom side)and one paint job, all the rest is original!

I just finished (ha, ha) rebuilding/restoring a C. I am going to try plowing with a trailing 2-14 john deere plow on saturday. I will let you know how I do. Good luck with the CA, Mike S.(WA).

Mike,
I have a neighbor with a '52 CA. He uses it to plow his garden with a 2B plow, but I don't know if the bottoms are 12", 14" or 16". He recently replaced his old tires with 14.9's and filled them with water. He now plows much easier than with the old 12's he had on there previously. The point is to have plenty of weight so the plow can do the work. The CA has plenty of power!
