I'm researching a new museum in an abandoned cement factory in Barcelona, Spain, that AC supplied with rotary cement kilns c.1900. Technitions from AC came to Spain to install and operate the plant.
I'd like to know if there is information on this company and its cement products at the beginning of the XX century.
Any clues much appreciated.

Yes, your correspondents are right. Allis-Chalmers Corp., Cement and Mining Div. is now a part of Svedala Industries, and as of last year all operations are in Danville, PA. The latter is home of former Kennedy Van Saun, which is now also part of Svedala. Both A-C and KVS used to make kilns for cement and lime industries. Feel free to contact me. I am with CTL Inc., a subsidiary of Portland Cement Assn., and have a lot of info on cement manufacturing, kilns in particular. !Buena suerte!

I currently operate a Boliden Allis Kiln made in 1990. They are the succesor to AC kilns. I believe they are headquartered somewhere in Europe (Germany, Switzerland or Austria)and have an office in Atlanta. They might have some historical info. Otherwise there is an outfit in Milwaukee yet that does work on Kiln's and is made up of people that use to work in the mineral division of AC. I think they are called AC service. The contact there is George Skaronski.

There is a book, "The Allis-Chalmers Story", by C.H. Wendel that has a section in it dedicated to A-C's kilns. It also has a good general company history in it. You can get it at www.bn.com.
