I am a novice and need some help. I have inherited a Allis Chalmers tractor. It is in the field and most of the relevant info has been obliterated by the weather. Can someone help me identify what I have or guide me to discover what I have. Thanks.

Well the tractor is Allis Chalmers. Any portion of the serial number plate on the side of the tractor is long gone, but several numbers were stamped into the metal casings as follows:

On the back of the transmission was stamped AM27G7-20. There was a "1" or some type of figure in front of the AM27G7-20, but I could not tell if it was a number of just a bar shaped character.

On the side of the crank case was the number 203284 and right below it was "Oil Level" with a mark for filling the oil tank.

On the side of the engine block with four sparkplugs was stamped G-20.

The front wheels are 48 inches apart outside to outside. The back tires are 10-24 size.

The size of the rear tire matches up to an Allis Chalmers Model CA, produced between 1950 and 1958. The Model and serial number on this tractor would be on the floor deck right next to the shifter, and will start out with CA----- . The CA had a hand clutch on the right side of the tractor. It also had foot brakes. It's a smaller model tractor than regular size. Those model numbers were stamped in the metal, so look real close; it should be there.

drivetrain to slip under a load; such as plowing
