Oil Filter Base

I changed the oil today on my 1950 A-C Model B. When I removed the oil filter about 1/8 " of oil remained in the oil filter base.

Should all of the oil drain back into the crankcase or will a little oil remain in the oil filter base? Do I possibly have a blocked oil passage? Do I need to unbolt the base and clean the passages back to the crankcase?

Thanks,

Rick

Hi Rick, Your OK. The filtered oil is pumped into the chamber that the lifters work through and then runs back into the crankcase from an opening behind the cam gear. The bottom of this opening is at the level your oil is in the filter base. I will clean up a block and get pictures as this is a very good question and I am sure others have wondered about.
