I believe I have a CA with a C rearend ie torque back.The tin says CA and the front end has holes ready for weights.the engine,narrow front end and the tin has been painted 3 times the torque back only has original paint,what is left of it.The triangular brace for the steering box is jerryriged in along with bolt holes in the tin with nothing behind them any more.I know the transmission ser# comes back to a 1941 C but the engine ser# has been destroyed.Can anyone help identifying this engine in some way?

Gary, what you have is a good example of parts that are interchangeable. The wide front on your B was an adjustable front axle from or for a C. The stearing gear was eather changed to a C type or modified. If the stearing gear arm was in the B down position, when you turn right the tractor would go left.

I saw a tractor for sale that had the same look. It had CA decals on the front and a C rear end. I put some more pictures of my CA on my web site. I think the paint was a brush job over the rust and dirt but it's just a work tractor for now..

Characterictics of a CA
1. Has adjustable rear wheels like WD
2. Engine has raised diamond pattern on right side
3. Has pan seat with spring and shock absorber.
4. Has sheet metal platform under seat area.
5. Has 1 and 3/8" pto shaft
6. Has draft control hydrolics like WD.
7. Has hand clutch in right axel.

Rog, The parts from the B's, C's, and CA's are interchangable. It is hard to say what has happened over the years and without pictures it would only be a guess. As for the engine, the last two numbers on the spark plug side of the block will give you some idea of when the block was made. the last two numbers on my 38 is (11) on my 39 is (12) on my 40 is (13) on my 41 is (21) (this was probably not the engine shipped on the tractor) The last two numbers on one of my CA's is (39) The engine blocks are all the same for all if they had generators. The front wheel assembly for all bolt to the four studs in the front of the block.

You could have for example, a C transmission with a B torque tube, the engine from a CA, with the front wheels from a CA, or many other combinations.

I can post some close up photos if you want get back to the way it was manufactured.

The numbers you refer to are AM4033-1. I would like to see your photos I also have photos but I cant figure out how to post them. The diamond pattern that T Seifert speaks of is there. I want to thank everone for there help.
