Ran accross a D-12 with a loader and backhoe,old
man has it for sale,says he bought it new.It
appears to be original and is very .It
has power steering,no pto or hitch.He painted
it an ugly yellow color,but you can still see
series 2 on the decal.Could this thing have came
original like this or was it put together. Thanks

Sounds like a industrial D-12. In the early 60s AC made yellow industrial versions of the D-series tractors. The loaders and backhoes were made by Henry Manufacturing, which AC later acquired. In the late 60s AC came out with the I-40/400 (D-10 based) and the I60/600 (D-15 based) which were more of a true industrial tractor.

Be glad it has the power steering. I have an agricultural D-12 with the industrial L-99 loader and it's a lot of weight on the ag front axle and a real workout to steer. Power steering is rare on ag versions. The industrial model should have a heavier, fixed width front axle.

Ray I have a D-12 backhoe that I got from a localc city parks dep. it is and always been butt ugley yellow. Ron
