My E Gleaner has the same engine as a D17, I was told. I drained the fuel tank, cleaned the carb, cleaned the sediment bowl, and put gas back in the tank. I started hand pumping the little lever on the fuel pump but I get nothing but a little hissing sound with each pump. No fuel ever came up to prime it. I checked the lines and had gas flowing. Tried cranking repeatedly in hope the engine would suck up some fuel. Didn't work that way either. I just bought this thing and it hasn't been cranked in a year. Everything looks fine and in order. What could be the gas problem. Is it the fuel pump? How can I know for sure?

If the lines and tank are clean then it is the fuel pump. You can go buy a cheap electric pump from NAPA, the one for this motor from AGCO is not cheap. It does have the same motor as a D-17 but D-17 did not have a fuel pump and the govenor was set up to run the motor faster on t
