I have a question that hopefully I can find some sort of an answer for. Just bought a '52 AC-WD in fairly good condition, almost all original cept a few improvements I have made. One thing I do not understand is the rear tire designations. Currently it has 13.6x28 tires on it. My dad's WD45 has 14.9x28 (I think) what's the difference besides the size? If I wanted wider tires on it do I need to get wider rims? can I put taller/shorter tires on it without changing rims? Does it work like a truck tire where several size tires will fit on a given rim as long as the diameter is the same, or do I need new rims and tires for a size change. I would like to run the widest tire I can for stability with the narrow front end and a loader, also that would allow more fluid for weight (something it really needs!!) running on clay and dirt in normal conditions, lil mud and snow too. Any help to clear this up would be great, Just something I dont know about so I thought I would ask since I am new to the old tractor game. Thanks a lot.

If you want to put on much wider tires and rims get a pair off an old Gleaner combine. The center bolt pattern fits and you can usually buy them cheap.

Well, You can usually put a larger tire on the standard rim, but there is a limit to how large you can go with a certain rim width. A good tire dealer will steer you right as to how large a tire you can SAFELY install on your current rims. The WD45 rims are probably a bit wider than the WD rims, so if you can't get the tire you want on your current rims, you could look around for a set of WD45 rims, or go buy new ones (large $$$). As for the numbers on the tire, they refer to the width of the tire at it's widest point (called section width) when mounted on a specific width rim. The larger the first number, the wider the tire.
