I noticed an Allis 6080 2WD without cab, with a front loader for sale this morning and it looks externally to be in fairly good shape. I hate to admit in this group that I have no experience with Allis Chalmers equipment. From the size, etc. I'm guessing this is about a 75-95 horse tractor (it's diesel)? Before I get all excited and call about it - does this model have any especially good points, and more importantly any bad points or weak spots that it's famous for? Am I in the ballpark guessing fair value for it (assuming it's as good mechanically as it looks) would be about $10,000-$12,000 US?

Any info or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Bob

The 6080 recorded 83.66 max PTO HP and 70.5 max available drawbar HP at Nebraska during test #1398 with a turbocharged and intercooled 200 CID 4 cyl. engine. Joe Evans

Some of the 6080 problems are starting circuit, things can go awry mostly it's the saftey switches I.E. clutch,PTO 2 switches.

With a front end loader on it I would check to see if the clutch is holding properly by putting it in high road gear, get up to speed on stomp on the brakes at high idle. If the clutch is holding it should drag the motor to a near stall.

ALso check out the front axle wheels, pivot pins and other componets for wear.

Good luck

Hi Pat,

Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions on the 6080. I'm always afraid to look at brands I'm not familiar with since it seems some have expensive weak spots that can be hidden if you don't have experience with them. I've owned or do own Ford, IH, and MF but have never even driven an AC. Guess I'll stop by and take it for a spin around the block.

Thanks again for your help,

Bob

Check the crankshaft for end play. Should have
an auxillary front mounted thrust kit straddling
the front crank pulley. Call 724-376-2489 8-5 est
for more detail if needed. Bill
