Where to locate the serial # on a WD?

I'm considering buying a WD that has been sitting for several years. The body is in pretty good shape. It has previously had some engine work done, but currently does not run. It wants to turn over, but isn't sparking. Where do I locate the serial number of the tractor and how do I determine what year it is? Is there an on-line site that shows a wiring schematic or will I have to buy a manual for that (don't want to buy the manual until I decide to buy the tractor).

TLC; No expert here but from good advice on this board, the Serial should be below the inspection plate on the left rear differential brake. The serial numbers in the research and info section on the left of the page will give you the year.
If you are lucky you may be able to get a Elecrical schematic at the library. Ours in town has books in the Ref. section that cover a good many, trucks and tractors. Unfortunately they did not have my WD. Good luck, they are a lot of fun. My son and I are making it a joint project to have ours ready for next years tractor shows.

Thanks! I'll check it out. This is a totally new experience for me. If we get this tractor, it will be used primarily as a work tractor on our small property.
