Hand Clutch

I have a WD model with a hand clutch, pto, two rear arm lifts, hydraulic front loader w/trip buckets (snow and dirt) and a serial # of WD803. Is this a 1949 model with added options or did they make these options back in 1949? I was told the hand clutch came out in 1951 or so. Also, what would this tractor be worth? It's in great shape with a new paint job.

It's a 1948 WD. The WD began production with the options you list and they (along with some other improvements) were continued on the WD-45. Scroll down to my earlier messages on 8/27 & 8/28, as well as my messages posted on 8/25 (page 2) for more info.

Does this mean it was probably the 803rd that rolled off the line? Also it does have an 8 volt alternator system that seems to be doing fine. Do you know relating to the coil if the + side lead of the coil goes to the side of the distributer or is it the - side of the coil that I connect to with this style polarity system? Do you off hand know what this WD roughly would be worth (it was handed down to me by a passing uncle of mine)? Thank you Brian for the reply!

The Serial number of the first WD was 7. As Butch says, if your tractor is still wired "positive ground" the + terminal goes to the distributer. Prices vary across the country and condition plays a big role. If it runs well, has very good "tin",tires and rear wheels, I would say $1,000 to $1,200. If it has good original paint, no dents in gas tank, hood or grill shell and perfect rear fenders, it will be worth significantly more.

Your WD should be positive ground. If so the + side of the coil should be wired to the distributor.
