If this is too basic of a question, I apologize, but this is all new to me.

I was looking at how the sickle mower attached to my old Allis and it appears that it was driven off of the PTO shaft. Has anyone heard of a pulley being placed on the shaft? BTW, the sickle bar's drive mechanism attached to the underside of the tractor and has a single pulley on the rear. Are there sources for the pulley?

There are no identifying marks on the mower that I've found yet. Any ideas of where to look?

Yes it is driven by the PTO. Mounted on the tractor (you realize, of course, that the left forward mount swings down and you can drive the tractor onto the mower) the mower drive shaft sits under the PTO. The PTO pulley has a split collar to ease installation. The belt is a heavy unit, best take your pulley with you when buying it, and measure the length around the pulleys with a string. The bel tension can be adjusted by shimming the drawbar mounts of the mower up or down, or repositioning the drawbar. I have heard some state that the oulleys may be avaialable from Agco (as a few NOS) but I have not checked personally. If you can't find a complete unit to measure the pulleys give me an e-mail and I'll measure mine for you. Oh, and be sure to check the PTO shaft - two were used and the early one is not SAE compatible (the shim is abot $10 at Quality or TSC).

The mower sounds like a B/C mower. They came with either 5 or 6 foot sickle bars. I have had a couple of them and they work great. The pully did attach to the pto shaft and was a belt drive to the mower pully.

The belly mower on my "B" operates off of a pulley mounted on the PTO shaft.

They have the splined hubs that will fit your power takeoff shaft and several sizes of pullys that work on the hub at the CT Farm stores. I can't give you any information on the mowers
