My old D14 has a bad starter....I was wondering what the advantages are to changing from 6V to 12V. I figured this might be a good time to change over....Also, is the positive the ground? That is how the battery was installed. Thanks.

If the old 6v system takes a dump, its
alot cheaper to instal a 12v system.
If the 6v system is working leave it alone.
wait til it goes down then change it to 12v.

I may alone in this but, as a collector of old tractors, I don't see an advantage. Unless you want to use it to pull a 12 volt air planter or use it as a jump start unit to help start other 12 volt units. If maintained properly they start fine. If you don't maintain a 12 volt system, they won't start eather.
