My temp guage is rusted under the glass and useless. Has anyone converted to an aftermarket guage is this possible. The parts place here wants 69.oo for an original one. This is a work tractor not a restoration. Thanks

I had the same problem. The aftermarket gage is too big in diameter and the threads are different. So I bought a 1" pipe adapter. This raised the gage and converted the threads.

How about how to get the old gauge off the radiator? Mine is so tight, I think the radiator would break before it would budge.

Central Tractor has them in their catalog, look just like the original ones in the picture. Price was around $10 or so last time I looked. Sandy Lake Implement may have them also. They have quite a selection of parts for the old tractors.

Hey, I have a WD with the same problem! I haven't taken mine out yet, but i plan to do the same thing you are wondering about. I am going to use a 12V electric gauge that i can buy for $9 at Fleet Farm and use that. Mine is a working tractor also. I am planning on doing mine in the near future, so i can post back as soon as i get it done and let you know if it works. I don't know why it wouldn't work at this point in time.
