Have removed the radiator and now would like to know the best way to replace broken governor wights on my WD45. Going down the road the weights broke and the engine rpm's went wild. Does the front full plate need to be removed or can the weights be replaced using the small access hole? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. vern

Hey, Vern: (I always wanted to do that)
If you take out the four bolts holding the access cover on the front of the timing cover and the three bolts holding the ignition unit to the front plate, you will have the entire governor out in your hand. From there, replacing the weights and/or gear is straightforward. Just remember to mark the ignition rotor position on the dist. or mag. housing and DON'T turn the engine over while it's off, and you should make out fine. E-mail me if you have questions or need more details, I've treated quite a few cases (no pun intended) of Runaway Allis Syndrome.
