WD45 NEW (to me)

Well, I did it, bought a WD45 and brought it home. Has a loader with several leaking spots, and is slow to respond. I ask the previous owner just befor I left what fluid to use in the Hyd and his ans was, whatever you want, its yours. So, what is best or recommended fluids for all applications please. Next I was looking at the serial number and comparing it to a chart I got from here, and it has 5 nu's not 6 just below the left brake inspecion plate. She figured I didnt know that was the brakes so I took the plate off and guess what, it is full of bumble bees. we left quick. thankully they werent wasps or yellow jackets. The 5 digit number is, WD 33041
the engine nu, WD 236622GA
Now she says how do I know its a 45? I guess I believed the previous owner. any help on this one??

Bob, Yep, he sold you a WD. I don't know the guy from Adam, but just from his answer to your question on the Hyd. fluid, I don't like him! Although the original manual calls for 20W non-detergent oil for the hydraulics, most everybody uses a good quality hydraulic oil nowadays. The trans, differential and final drive gears use 80/90W gear oil. If it's an A-C back-blade, the main frame member is constructed of a real heavy pipe and there is a wheel for adjusting the tilt and another pair of screws for adjusting the pitch of the blade. Also, it will be attached using the snap coupler hitch. If the tractor is in good solid running condition with good tires and the loader and back-blade are not all beat up, the price was maybe a little high but not too bad. Brian G.

Sounds like you've got a 1949 WD to me. Check for a plate on the right side of the engine and straight shift lever. Essentially the same tractor. The 45 has a longer stroke, taller head, one more plate in the hand clutch, and a few other small differences.

Forgot, in case your interested, I got a back blade, appears to be the Allis line, no markings found yet though, and a set of tire chains, 1250.00. Seems to run well, just the Hyd fluid leaks. I used the back blade on my drive to crown it, works fine and tractor does not smoke or bog down.
