My father has recently purchased an old A-C tractor and has given me, his daughter who knows nothing about machines, the task of looking up what he thinks is the serial number and possibly a model number. He wants me to find out what year it is, the size of the engine, and the cylinder bore(?). Any suggestions?

Thank you for assisting me. My father gave me 2 sets of numbers. One is for a big tractor, 1520980; the onther number is for a lawn tractor I believe W C 1 2738.

Opps. My mistake. Both are for the big tractor. The one is the engine serial number, the other is what he thinks is the model number.

Look either in front of the gearshift lever or on top of the rear axle housing. The most common AC tractors are the WC/WD models or the B/C/CA models. The serial number will be in one or the other of those locations. From that we can determine the year built and the other info you want. e-mail me if you need more help. Good luck, paul

You're wonderful. My dad knew about the one on the rear axle, but not the gear shift. He got the number (of course, he forgot to give it to me before I left). Turns out the 2 numbers he gave me originally were for the same tractor. The one was the engine serial number, the other he thinks is the tractor model number. Can you recommend any good web sites to go to for information? Mainly, he is wanting to rebuild the tractor. Thanks again.
