Has anyone put an automotive type Dist. on a 1943 Wc, If so , what type and how much mechanical modification is necessary? I've just about given up on restoration, can't get mag. to work and can't find a good used manifold.ect.

I agree with Butch. You should be able to get your mag rebuilt for around $100-$150 tops. That is the way I would go, or possibly convert it to a battery ignition with an external coil. I have an RC that has been converted and it works quite well. I will switch it back to a mag when I get to that part of restoration, though.

My 2¢,
Phil

The battery ignition from a later model B,C or WD-45 along with IHC H or M and a few others will bolt right on, and are around for sale. One of these units or purchasing a good used magneto would either one be much cheaper than the machine shop bill for reworking an automotive unit.
