WD or WD45?

I have been trying to figure out whether my tractor is a WD or WD45. I have a shop manual and it says that the serial numbers are on the left rear of the transmission housing. I cannot find it anywhere. I read in another discussion forum that a WD has a plate on the block on the distributor side of engine. I also read that only the WD45 has a curved shift lever. Are there any other specific places that the serial # might be located?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Brandon,

Looking at the back of the tractor, the serial number is on the left side of the housing, just below the left brake cap (the raised rectangular plate that you remove to access the brake pads for the left wheel). WD production ended at SN 146606 and WD45 production began at 146607. Late WD tractors (SN 127007 to 146606) had the constant mesh transmission (curved gear shifter). All WD tractors (201 engine) had the rectangular access plate bolted on the side of the block. The WD45 (226 engine) does not have this plate. The serial number will tell you for sure.

Good luck,
Brian
