I recently bought a wd-45 and the only thing that was suspect with it was that i have a hard time getting into 3rd & 4th gear, once in she moves right along with no problem, is this normal, is this something that can easily be remidied, or am i in for a major lesson in tractor mechanics?

Most Allis , espetially the older models, were known to be poor shifters. Although very good tractors. We've found that by keeping the revs lower, slightly pushing on the shifter and releasing the clutch pedal slowly, it should slip into gear farely easy. Be cautious not to grind the gears to much as they are also known to jump out of the most commonly used gears once they get the slightest wear.

Thanks Phil. In my excitement about the new tractor I told you it was a "WD-45", it's actually a "WD". My brother's and I trailered the tractor to the land we want to work Sat.AM. We were able to shift into 3&4 easily with a little practice, although the shifter has about 25% the travel in 3&4 as it does in 1&2. We ran it up the drive about a Qtr. mile and back in 3&4 and it seemed fine. I will keep searching for info on the "ins & out's" of this tractor. If you or anyone else has anything to add, by all means feel free to do so, I will greatly appreciate any input, thanks.
