I have a CA and a new commercial grade NAPA 6 volt bat. It hardly turns the engine over when cool, but usually enough to start. But if still warm, will not turn it over and then I use the charger on "start" and away we go. I mentioned this before on this group and was advised to use heavier bat cable. So I used a jumper cable from bat to starter in addition to regular cable. It did OK, but now I think it was only becausde the CA was cooled off. Any ideas? I also have a '39 WC that hard;ly turns over but has not been a real problem yet.

Jumper cables are not very large compared to the #2 minimum wire size you should use for a 6V system. I would suggest getting a #2 or #1 cable, as short as possible, thoroughly cleaning the connections and trying again. Cleaning the connections is extremely important, as paint and rust are very poor conductors and even a thin film can cause problems.

Very possible that the armature bushings
are worn allowing it to drag on the fields.
We stock these bushings & reman starters.
If you take it apart also check for a bent
armature by supporting it on each end stub
shaft with a block & rolling it while watching
closely for wobble.

Don have you ever tried using a eight{8} volt battery in your tractor. It should turn the engine over faster, making it start easier. Also have you had the starter checked to make sure it is not drawing to many amps? the eight volt battery made dads 45 start so much guiker, and easier.
