My CA has been overhauled with new sleeves and pistons. The 6V battery just can't seem to start it without a booster on the bat. I wonder if I can stick a 12V battyery in plave of the 6V. Would the generator handle that?

Well, I took your advice. I put jumper cabl;es in addition from battery to starter to try it. It spun over in good shape!!! I am getting #1 battery cables tomorrow, they say they ARE designed for 6 volt systems. . Thanks

Since I used some 3/0 welding cables for battery cables on my 6 volt CA it spins like it had a 12 volt in it. It is a little over kill , but I was tired of the slow turning starter problem

Make sure you are using heavy battery cables for 6 volt systems. the 12 volt cables from the shelf at the auto parts store are too small a gauge and will not allow enough amperage to flow to the starter,Bill

Use an 8 volt battery. It works with all your existing electrical parts just fine. If you use 12 volts you would have to change light bulbs and if you have a distributor ignition put a dropping resistor in circuit ahead of the coil.

Make sure you are using the correct battery, the book states a minimum cranking power of 600 to 700 cranking power.
