Setting up WD and plow

We are trying to get a two bottom plow to work on a WD. This is the type of plow that you have to remove the drawbar. The plow then hooks up with the horizontal pin. Not snap hitch. There are turnbuckle like pieces(not really turnbuckles but you get the idea) that attach to the lift arms. The bottom ends of these turnbuckle pieces attach to each end of a horizontal round bar on the plow. Question: Is the plow supposed to be centered on this bar? There are u-bolts that attach the rest of the plow to the round bar and I noticed that the u-bolts were loose. Also, there is a center crank adjuster attached to this bar. Seems to control the angle of the plow. Right now it's cranked all the way tight (so the plow would dig deeper). How do I set this up? Also, where are the coulters supposed to be lined up and the height? Wish I had a picture of the plow so it'd be easier to explain. Thanks!

I will explain to you the same way my Grandfather did me 50 some years ago. If you want to do a good job of plowing you have to keep the plow beams level both ways. ( this goes for any type plow )
When your plow is attched to the tractor the first bottom has to roll the dirt directly behind the rear tractor tire. After you make the first round the rear tractor tire will be down in the furrow. This would be about 8" deep. Then the dirt need to roll over and fill the furrow and look even across the top of the other furrows. If the plow is lined up to far to the right it will want to throw the dirt over on top of the last furrow. If it is lined to far to the left the plow point will not cut through at the bottom and and the dirt will not lay over even on the last round and leave a gap. Before going to the feild, on a level place, drive the left rear tire up on a 8" block of wood, let the plow down and adjust the turn buckles and crank so as the plow beams are level both ways. You can change the depth of the plow then with the crank. The colters need to cut the trash and dirt crust or sod just in front of the plow point tip and even with or an inch to the left of the land slide. This allows the furrow to turn over clean and will help keep you from pluging up with trash.
