Does one need different frame rails and hood/radiator to go from Gas to Diesel engine in an early D17?

LB, I couple of years ago I had a D17 Series III 6-cyl gas. It was originally a diesel, so the conversion was pretty much a bolt-in deal (according to the previous owner). I know this - the hood is indeed longer. I used Series III gas decals when I restored it and had a 1 or 2 inch gap between the hood and gas tank decals. Since the torque tube was the same, I'm pretty sure the frame rails had to be longer on the diesel. If you're considering the conversion, I would recommend finding a D17 diesel with a bad motor and dropping in a 262 gas out of a C Gleaner (same as D19 gas). It was a fun tractor, but due to college bills back then I had to sell it. I think I have some pictures scanned in if you are interested.

Good luck,
Brian

I'd like to see what pics you have brian. If you have any of the engine to torque tube area that would be great. I have a 230 gas engine I want to put in a D17.Will be 6 cylinder gas and about the same horsepower as original.
