Can any one explain how to check and set valve clearance on a WD45?
Thank for the help.

With the valvecover off and the piston top dead center on the compression stroke, losen the jam nut on the rocker arm with a boxend wrench with a screwdriver through the center of the wrench, turn the adjusting screw so a .010 feelergage will just slide between the adjusting screw and the top of the valve, holding the screwdriver from turning tighten the jamnut and recheck the space with the gage. and readjust untill .010 will just slide through. On this engine both valves are the same. Do both valves with the piston in the same position. If you are unsure of how to find when you have the piston in the correct position, take the distributor cap off and when the rotor points to the #1 wire terminal adjust both valves over #1 piston. Then follow the fireing order 1 2 4 3 untill you have them all adjusted and then recheck. After getting the engine runnng and warm then recheck again. A valve gap that is to tight will not let the valve close, if you run an engine this way you will burn the valves in a short time. If the gap is to large it will not let the valve open far enough and the engine will not run to its peak and may seem to miss if the gap is large enough.

I am supprised someone didn't call me on my missinformation above. I just reread my instructions where I said that you put the gage under the adjusting screw when all you guys that do this stuff know that the adjusting screw sets in the push rod and the end of the valve is on the other side of the rocker arm. Sorry I should have reread it before I posted.
