Ray, Magneto point gap .020, Advance 30*. Timing as follows. Crank engine until #1 piston is approaching top center on its compression stroke and mark "FIRE" appears in the center of inspection opening on left hand side of torque tube. (the easiest way to determine the compression stroke is to remove the front, or number 1 spark plug, and holding your finger over the hole, turn the engine over until air is forced past your finger. When this starts to happen, watch for the timing mark through the hole in the torque tube like it says.) Remove the distributor compartment cover from magneto that is retained by two screws. Turn magneto until the rotor contact lines up with the timing lug in the case (as your looking at the rotor end of the mag, the lug will be in the upper left hand corner). Couple magneto to engine. If rotor does not exactly line up with lug, turn magneto on engine until it does. The sloted hole for the lower bolt is provided for this purpose. Tighten the upper capscrew first. Do not over tighten lower nut. Hope this help you out, Darrell
