We have a WD-45 and are wanting to put different wheels on the front, but we are having a hard time finding something to match the pattern. I have seen other WD's with different front wheels, we are wanting to know what the came off of.. Thanks.. JDGnut

Thanks for the replies.. the late model GM, Ford truck wheels will not fit.. (Sorry I don't remember why..) I think the biggest problem is the large center hub.... We are looking for an aftermarket rim... maybe even an alumium rim...

You have 3 problems - bolt size, pattern size, and wheel offset. The space savers are double drilled for 4 1/2 or 4 3/4 inch bolt patterns, 5 lugs. I use Camero wheels on my B with a wide front. Some 1/2 ton Suburbans and Fords use 5 on 5, and 3/4 ton pickups of the 60's and 70's use 6 on 6 or 6 on 5 1/2. Check for the stud size too as later GM and truck hubs used a bigger bolt. For offset, measure from the edge of the rim in to the hub flange on the rim, and compare this with what you have. Early 60's reversed rims work pretty well on narrow front. Be sure your bearings are good as the wider tires will change the loading and stress the bearings. Good luck.

Also, if you can find a Buick from the '40s or '50s era, those wheels will work too. We have a set of late '40s wheels on our WD45. We needed to mount wider tires for loader work and these wheels will give you the width and offset that you need.

Gnut,
I've heard that the throwaway spare tires from the mid-80's GM Buick LeSabre and Olds 88 will bolt up to some A-C front hubs. If you're looking for an original wheel, there are probably several that will fit. You might have to switch hubs too for some of them to work (like the spoked wheels).
