There is an AC B at a local dealer. If the number I have is right, the serial is B38118. Does this sound correct? It was stamped below the steering post. What year is this? It is a hand start, and popped on the first crank, took about 15 more and a throttle adjustmant to get her going. What is she worth?

FM,
That's a '40 B. Mine is S/N 38938 and is also hand start with the adjustable WFE. Belt pulley and PTO, no hydraulics. Paid a lot more than $750 for mine, but it was freshly overhauled and had new tores all around. Starts on the second or third pull, usually, except the mag points are bad on mine right now and I don't have time to fix it.
These are great little tractors if you realize their limits and don't try to make them do too much. D13 has given you some good advice.

$600 max, add $100 for belt / pto unit. Dealers were asking $900 for hand cranks and were not moving them. $1000 will buy an electric start unit. Add another $150 with hydraulkics although one would suspect them of being added later.

Thanks a bunch. It does have both the hydraulics and the Pto/belt. How hard is it to find a blade for a B?

I've heard that there is a factory snap coupler blade for these. Since I've never seen a B with a snap coupler, I suspect people are using CA parts. One of my B's has a front blade, mounted on a structure hung from the front axle support and the cultivator bosses on the torque tube. It uses a Farmall valve set and an auto power steering pump to run. My other one has tabs welded to the front axle for a similar unit only using chain supports. For a back blade, try to find the factory rockshaft (mounts between the rear edges of the fenders) and front drawbar (goes between the final drives like the rear drawbar, only uses the front holes), then the front of the unit mounts to the drawbar and the rockshaft picks it up. The other option is a 3 point conversion, $250-450, then you can use any implement. Remember you only have 16-24HP and 2000 lbs weight, a 4-5' blade will be all you can handle.

It looks like it is a 1940. I paid $600 for mine last december, it had been painted with a brush and had mismatched rear tires. hope this helps.
