Oil leak at final drive on wc

i have what i believe is a 39 wc i am trying to restore.my question is , on the final drive housing at the bottom there is a hole approximately 3/4 inch in diameter which oil leaks. where would the oil be coming from and how do i stop the leak? any ideas would be greatly accepted. thanks,steve.

Steve: Check that it's not a wheel hub seal that is leaking. This seal is usually cork which seals the hub that comes through the final drive oil cover. I've replaced them on 2 WC which I've restored. Here is a part# 132568 $18.75 in 1997.
This is from a local AGCO in my area.The new ones
are rubber. You should pull the wheel off to check. Received your check 4/21.Will send clutch

Steve, if you are referring to a hole directly below the brake, it was put there to allow liquids to drain. (Rain water, oil, grease) If it's EP 140 it will be coming from the bull gear chamber. If it's EP 90 it will be coming from the ring and pinion chamber. Pretty hard to tell until you remove the brake cover to see which side is the culprit. Doesn't really matter though, because if it's rear end grease, you've got to pull the axle to service either seal.CP

Steve, I got the seals locally from an auto parts store. If I don't forget, I'll get the mfg & # for you tomorrow. They were about 10 bucks ea. Inner and outer uses the same number. Mine leaked due to bearing failure, I purchased them from Manhatten Supply Co for about 1/3 the cost of the local parts house. I would have to do research on the WC bearings, they are different from the WF. Also, to get to the seals, you'll have to pull the wheel hub / bull gear, and you'll probably ruin the final drive hub seal. You can get them from Agco Allis, and maybe elsewhere in this forum you can locate a supplier. I made my own with a piece of 1/2 in heater hose, strategically cut, formed, and spent most of a forenoon installing, but it's a year later and they haven't leaked so far.( use silicone grease between seal and hub, use High Tack between seal and housing )
