I recently purchased an older Allis Chalmers Tractor-
I believe its a WD - the serial # on the Engine block is WD353155PA - The tractor needs work and parts an I would like to know what year it is so I can start to work on it. This looks like its going to be an interesting project. I would also like to know if you can mix implements. I mean can you use JD hay cutters with the power takeoff unit- what kind of modifications are needed to do this - any help would be appreciated

Your tractor is probably a wd-45. It sounds like a later model at that. You need several books. First and formost get a wd/wd-45 operators manual. Consider a wd/wd-45 service manual and get one of the great ac reference books on the market i.e. The Allis Chalmers Story at you local Farm and Fleet store. Where in Wisconsin are you? The serial number for all wd's and wd-45's is located on the axle housing just above the left rear brake cover when standing behind the tractor. Implements are inter-changeable if the pto size and splines are the same. A bigger problem is the hydraulic system ( the ac snap coupler system vs. the more convential 3 pt system which became the industry standard..) purchased an older Allis Chalmers Tractor-
