Does anyone know the correct procedure for changing from a mag to a distributor on a wd 45. Is it even possible? I am wondering how to get it timed properly. This is the second time the mag has acted up so I would like to change it over to a distributor b/c it is less expensive to work on. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, A Delco distributor from a WC, WD or WD 45 will fit and function if you change the assembly at the flange mounting interface. The WD 45 assembly is a die cast right angle drive housing; the WC and WD are cast iron right angle drive housings - on the tractors I have seen and worked on. Time at (Fire position: 30 degrees advance) high idle and check at low idle (Top Dead Center: 0 degrees) There two timing marks on most of the fly wheels. Be sure it fires on top dead center at low idle - especially you ever hand crank the engine. Good luck, Gordon
