On my newly aquired C A I found that I had no hydraulic pressure. This warm spring like day seemed like the perfect day to check out the hydraulic pump. I got to the pump after over three hours of rusty bolts and cotter keys to remove the seat, covers, and breaks. Along with a squirrels nest in the axel housing. I took the pump totaly apart and found that I had to tap out the spools. I found the problem gritty rust had bound up the spools and valves. I laid every part out as I took them out to make sure that it would work when it was put back togather. I cleaned the body and all the parts. To be on the safe side I got out the pump parts page. I found that two of the spools were in backwards. After reassembling the pump and makeing sure the spools were working smooth I put the pump back on the tractor. I stared the tractor up after adding oil and moved the lever back and forth and no pressure. Its time to quit, always another day. I picked my manuel and turned out the lights and studyed the pump diagram on the way to the house and there at the bottom of the pump picture I spotted what should have been the first thing I should have seen when I took the pump off. NO STINKING PICKUP TUBE. Like I said another day. Have fun

Hey Dick, most of us have those days, just damn few admit it! Ever spent a couple hours working on a tractor that woudn't start because there wasn't any gas in it? I have. Kind of pride myself in my mechanical abilities too. Wife came out and asked if I had checked the gas and I ran her off... never told her different.

Ya Butch and that aint half of it the parts diagram showed a threaded tube and when I took the pump back off I see that the pickup tube is cast into the hyraulic housing. I put the dumb pump back on and starte the tractor back up and it worked ok. You was able to hide your gas thing but I ran out of gas hooked to the sled at a pull. I realy did have a hole in the tank but do you think any on belived me. I was told ya the one where your suposed to put gas in.
