I know this message applies to the WCs and may apply to other models I'm not familiar with. In any case, there is a spring located just
under the plate at the front of the governor (right behind the radiator.) You only have to
remove four little bolts to get it off. You
need to look at the ends of the spring for wear
right where they go through the holes. This doesn't receive much lubrication and the ends
can wear completely through. When that happens
the metal plunger that sits inside the spring can fall into the spinning governor weights.
This is not good. It is cheaper and easier to replace a spring than a governor. [This I've
just learned from experience.] Furthermore,
you may want to take the cover off every once and a while to oil the ends of the spring.
