I have a wd-45 that seems to run smooth, and starts up great but it seems to lack in power lately. I cleaned the carb and tried to adjust it but the adjustments didn't effect the way it ran. somtimes it gets a white snow like frost on the carb and intake where they meet. I'm thinking of redoeing the head and remilling the manifold i know the exhaust leaks there, maybe its sucking air there to.Any others suggestions before i tear it apart would be appreciated thanks!

The carb iceing is coming from the moister content in the air along with the dewpoint. Thats why you won't allways notice it. The venturie in the carb. narrows the air passege and causes the airflow to accelarate. This cools the air as it passes through the carb. and if it's cool enough outside with the right combination of humidity it will cause condensation and then freeze in that area. As the air goes further in the manifold the temp soon stabilizes to normal and the frost dissapers. Welcome to physics-101.

Before you do anything else, check to make sure your spark advance in the distributor is working properly and that your governor is opening up properly. Change plugs also, they're cheap. Any binding or sticking in the advance mechanisms will cause what you describe. Your carburetor icing on the outside doesn't mean much, but you do need to check for leaks between carburetor and manifold and between manifold and block. Also make sure your air cleaner is not plugged or bent causing poor air flow. One guy told of having mud-dauber nests in his (other brand) tractor. that would make it doggy, too.

I suspect you are getting carburator icing caused by moisture in the gas tank.
