What do you mean " I thought they were a little MORE than that"; every D-21 I've ever run on my CALIBRATED PTO dyno has pulled BETTER than the factory specs; those 3500 Series II Turbo engines will; IF SET UP PROPERLY pull anywhere from 128- 250 PTO horsepower; it's the ONLY DIESEL TRACTOR engine that I've seen in 33+ years of engine rebuilding that will develope this kind of HP. Getting the (factory) D-21 driveline to stay together with this kind of power takes some REAL
engineering; however on the PTO dyno only the straight-thru shafts are turning; wheel differentials,etc., are NOT in the equation.Allis-Chalmers built ALL the D-21s with WAY TOO MUCH Hosepower; they smartened up quickly at the factory,too, after replacing all those (original) D-21 clutches under factory warranty!!
