I have a small farm 64 acres is this the right tractor for 30 acres hay and 15 acres of brush to mow . It
has a 6 cylinder diesel made in 1960. I haven't been around many AC's but after I lift dad's farm in
mead 70's he had a D17 series 1 gas and he liked it. I know there has to be something good about
this tractor on the 4 mile stretch of gravel road to my little farm live 2 d17's and 3 D15's and a
D10 thanks hopping to become an AC man

You bet, the 17's are just right for you. The gas 17's are great too but love to be feed. And with the price of fuel going out of site you'll be glad you got a diesel. The only thing is the diesels were a little hateful to start sometimes, so if this becomes a problem, I have some pionters that will help. Have one each myself and love them, Happy Farming. I use my gas D-17 for mowing and baling 30 acres. That's using a baler with thrower and pulling a wagon up and down hills. Its perfect, now that I have good tires on it. The old tires used to slip a little, pulling a big load up a steep hill. You'll love yours. The power director is great for changing speed on the fly mowing and baling.

Steve, When we were still farming, our BIG tractors were 2 D 17's. We had 300 acres, and did everything with the D 17's, and both were gas models. So, the answer to your question is yes, and being a desiel, you should have plenty of power. Good luck, and have fun with your new toy. Darrell

Hey, that will be a perfect sized tractor for you. I farm 134 acres in Central IL. 50 acres corn, 50 acres of soybeans and about 20 acres to mow. My tractors are a 1066 International, D-17 IV Allis, 4006 Duetz, and a 580 Case backhoe. I've got a Gleaner F Corn/Soybean Special. If I had to farm with only one tractor it would be the 17. But I use the 1066 for tillage, Duetz for planting and mowing, The Allis for whatever it feels like doing, pulling wagons, mowing, rear blade endloader. cultivator, hoe and just drivin' around. John
