Installing G Rings

Anybody have advice on installing piston rings in a "G". I have the pistons out and new rings on, but having trouble getting pistons back in. They must be installed through the bottom as the rod end is too big to go through the bore. The motor is still in the tractor. Any help?? Marv

Marvin, Rick is correct. You would need a rather small ring compressor to get the rings into the G. Also, when we overhauled them we took the engine off the tractor. Was much easier to work on. After working on UC and WD engine blocks it was like working on a sewing machine. Also, the bottom of thy cylinder is beveled to allow for putting the rings in. Be certain to use the very best rings you can get. We got ours locally from Salvo Auto Parts. The ones AC supplied did not do the job. Good Luck! Bill Long

If you are not using a ring compressor you will probable not get them in.Go to a parts store and rent or buy a compressor.
