Initially fires up, then quits. Carb floods out (gas pours out through air intake, though choke is off). Would a sticking float cause this, or something else. I've got 6" snow and more on the way, so I'd appreciate some ideas. Tha

Mine did this. A $30 complete carb rebuild kit for Central Tractor fixed it fine. Easy to use, comes with instructions. In the interm you can dismantle the carb and clean it with compressed air. Peobably the float valve is worn however and sticking. Careful, it can catch fire!

I'd guess either the needle and seat are wore, or the float has a hole in it and sank. Could also be something broke loose and is holding the float down. Looks like it's time for a tear down. Hope it's something simple.

Sounds like your float might have sunk. I had the same problem on my JD B and my old GMC pickup at the same time. New float in the pickup and soldered the float in the JD, and they both worked fine. Must be a fairly common problem.
