WD45 transmission shifter housing misc parts

I've got a ball, a spring, and an oblong thing. These came out of my shifter housing while trying to line up the forks to go over the syncronizers. How do they go back? Spoke with a local mechanic who told me about the spring and ball, but not about the other part. Does it go under the spring? Don't have a shop manual that gives a breakdown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the interlock plunger that fits in the reverse shift fork up at the shift rail. No it does not go under the spring. Look at the shift rail and the fork and see if there is a hole through the fork up at the shift rail for something to lock the fork to the rail.

Thanks Gene, Does that mean I drop the spring in and place the ball on top? Does it push down with a screwdriver or do I need some type of special tool? Thanks for your response.
