Ossie,
Any luck with that pump yet? What did you find?

I doubt its a cylinder problem unless you have oil spewing out everywhere...

I just went through the pump on my CA. Wasn't sure about it at first, but it was very simple.

Rough, slow, jumpy action can be caused by a stuck check ball. Mine did not work at all, I tore it down, cleaned it and took 400 grit to the spool valves and made sure they all move freely.
I replaced 2 or 3 simple easy to find o-rings and I was in business.

I'm no expert by any means, however in a few hours I had a pump working perfect. I have heard that the CA has a bypass valve that washes out on occasion, and my neighbor replaced his for about $80 from the local tractor supply. Most of the check valves are like 1/4" steel balls held in place by springs. If the tractor set idle for any period of time, it may just need cleaning and some new orings.

Maybe somebody else could offer a few suggestions.

Richard
