Magneto vs distributor...

I own a WD 45 fitted with a magneto. I have heard about distributor kits to convert to a 12V system. I've also noticed that the majority of the old Allis's have been converted to a distributor. What are the pro's and con's of this convertion?
Easier starts? More power? I'm sure the parts are cheaper. It also worries me a little that the people with the know how to work with magneto's seem few and far between.

Thank you for the help and advice.

In most cases the distributor gets the nod. You'll probably get a few more hp and the parts are cheaper and easier to install. What kind of mag is it? A lot depends on that. I like magnetos, but I have a test bench and fix them as a sideline, and I'm too cheap to buy batteries for all my tractors, so I crank them.
