Anyone with a method of removing the intake/exhaust manifold without destroying it? I got all the nuts off the studs, and would like to remove the manifold without cutting the studs of possible.

The fact that you got the nuts off without destroying the studs themselves is an accomplishment. I've never had too much trouble getting the manifold off once the nuts have been removed. Assuming the problem is attributable to the studs being rusted to the manifold, I would place the nuts (or new nuts) back on the studs just far enuf to capture all of the threads. Then I would tap on the nuts hoping the studs would loosen within the manifold. Some good penetrating oil in all the right places might help too.

Just had the same problem with my D-17. I used my torch and heated the manifold around the studs and carefully tapped on the manifold to loosen it.
Entire operation took about 30 min. but it worked.
If you don't have a torch I can reccomend BP Blaster but it may take a day or two to get the rust loosened up.

Thanks for the help Brian and John. I got the thing off, but it has a good sized hole in the top of the exhaust part, so it looks like a new manifold in my future. Ever dealt with Norm Steinman?
