Oil retainer on AC/WC rear main

I asked before and no response!! So I'll be persistent!!

Can I stuff more felt into the upper portion of the bearing, leaving the old felt in there? I don't want to drop the crankshaft. I am told this can be done but am unsure of the source!!

I would remove the old seal, then without lowering the crank stuf your new rope seal inplace. You may need to make an effort from both sides, may not be able to curve the rope the full distance. The rope packs very tightly and if you lower the crank shaft, the raising will tighten the seal too much. Good Luck.
