"When all else fails, read the instructions". That's a saying that I've preached and you might say lived by for years. Now I have a problem. I've got a WD tractor and no instructions, so am in need of some help from someone who has read the instructions and made a WD work up to it's potential. My immediate need of some knowledge about the hydraulic control valve located inboard of the right frame rail. This valve is controlled by a lever on the left side of the steering wheel. With the foot clutch engaged, if you move this lever clockwise the lift arms will rise. There is also a pipe connected to this valve that runs to the top of the axle under the seat with a quick connect coupler at the end. Fluid pressure and flow are also controlled in this line by the lever at the steering wheel. On my WD there is a front end loader connected to this pipe. I don't think this front end loader works correctly. It will rise fine, but takes 2 or 3 minutes to come back down.

I put my test gauges on this line and directed the return from the tester to the Dip stick/fill opening. I had a flow of three gallons per minute and a Maximum pressure of 3000 PSIG.

On the front end (the end toward the tractor radiator) of the control valve up near the top there is what appears to be an adjusting bolt. The head of this bolt has no hex or flats for turning it. It does have some knurl as if it were meant to be turned by hand. What is this adjustment for if it is in fact an adjustment? Below this bolt is a small "T" handle that may be some form of adjuster. What is this one For?

There is a link from the control valve to the rocker and spring bracket at the front of the draw bar under the center of the tractor. Does this have something to do with draft control?

Slin: The valve on top of the pump that has the remote pipe attached to it is the hold position valve. The knurled screw on the front is an adjustment for delayed lift of the rear cultivator bar when using the cultivators. When the cultivators are mounted one of the lift rams is used to pick up the front gangs and the other is used to pick up the rear gang. When the screw is screwed in, it will give a delayed lift to the rear gang so that more of the tractor wheel track will be cultivated out at the end of the row. The link that is attached to the snap coupler bell spring is used to control the traction boost control of the pump. I hope that this helps.

I Have an owners manual for both the 45 and the WD45. If you will e-mail an address I will be glad to photocopy the 4 pages on the hydraulics and send them to you.
