I'm looking at buying an old CA. It looks good and runs good. It is the old tricycle type. The
guy is asking 400 for it it it will need 1 rear tire.

Does anyone know much about the CA, Horsepower, parts, reliable?

For the price of $400 and a new rear tire it sounds like a very good deal. At least being a CA you can remove the rim and take it to a farm tire supply place. You save a house call. You said it runs good. If you can, try running it in 3rd and go down a slight hill, CA's and other AC's like too jump out of gear. 3rd is CA's problem. The hand clutch is a nice idea but becareful using it alot they are a weak spot. I've had two CA's one jumped out of 3rd gear and the hand clutch went, the other runs great. Parts are available, and they are are a very nice tractor. which have good market if you want to sell. Good luck,

I have a 1952 CA that I just recently got running. This one sat for twenty years after the clutch let go. The result was a very STUCK engine! Anyway, $400 for one that "looks and runs good" sounds like a good deal. I spent more than that on parts! I have purchased all the engine parts from my local NAPA. The tractor is rated at about 24 horsepower and pulls a two bottom plow. I would guess that the tire will run a couple hundred bucks. Converting this tractor to a 3-point hitch will run close to $600. This would give you a really neat, useful tractor for around $1300. Shawn
