Does anyone know where the serial number is located on this tractor. And what would it take to get this tractor down to 7,000 lbs.

The serial number is stamped on the torque housing (bellhousing)vertically in 1/2" numbers on the starter side of the tractor near where the engine block joins it. It should read D 21 XXXX. The engine also has a metal plate attached on the block above the starter and below the head. All D-21's had 4 digit serial numbers between 1001 and 4609.
The years and serial numbers are:
1963 -- 1001 - 1416
1964 -- 1417 - 2078
1965 -- 2079 - 2129
Series II - Turbocharged series
1965 -- 2201 - 2407
1966 -- 2408 - 2862
1967 -- 2863 - 3776
1968 -- 3777 - 4497
1969 -- 4498 - 4609 There were 1,128 D-21's built and
2,329 D-21 Series II built. Hope this helps.

The lightest I ever heard of a D-21 getting was Dennis Johnson's 5500. Naturally he won a Bush puller's title with it. 7000 should be much work by comparison. As I remember the tail he added two 90's to get up to 5500.
